What is wisdom tooth surgery?
Wisdom tooth extraction is one of the most common dental surgical procedures. Thanks to our extensive experience and expertise in dental surgery, we can remove wisdom teeth so gently that you, as a patient, will be back on your feet as quickly as possible. (Of course, we will also provide you with a sick note or a certificate of incapacity for work for the recovery period, should you need one.)
Wisdom teeth are removed very frequently, usually by doctors or dentists specializing in surgery. Therefore, it is advisable to consult an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon or oral surgeon for this procedure. For these specialists, wisdom tooth removal is a routine procedure!
How long does the swelling last after surgery?
Typically, there is slight swelling of the cheek for two to three days after surgery, after which the swelling subsides. There are, of course, several things you can do to reduce the swelling: for example, elevate your head slightly, apply a cold compress to the cheek, and brush your teeth thoroughly. Using a supportive antiseptic mouthwash can help prevent inflammation.
How much does it cost to have wisdom teeth removed?
The removal of wisdom teeth is less complicated when the teeth are already visible in the mouth, meaning they have erupted from the bone. Wisdom teeth that are still hidden within the bone must first be exposed before they can be removed, which is correspondingly more complicated. For this reason, we cannot provide a fixed price for wisdom tooth removal. We’re happy to provide some examples:
- Sarah L., 18 years old, has only two wisdom teeth left. These are still hidden in the jaw, and the roots are not yet fully formed. The cost for the removal of the wisdom teeth, including the follow-up checkup, is €693.20.
- Luca S., 20 years old, still has three wisdom teeth; one tooth was already removed several years ago due to toothache. Two wisdom teeth are already visible in the mouth, while the third tooth is still hidden in the bone. The X-ray that Luca brings from the dentist allows for a clear assessment of the teeth, so a new X-ray is not necessary. In the end, the wisdom tooth extraction costs €951.70 all-inclusive.
